3M™ Cubitron™ ll Sanding Belt 723D features the 3M™ Precision Shaped Grain technology. Our sanding belts have a flexible cotton J-weight backing and feature an open construction. For better performance, the 723D sanding belt contains a mixture of 3M Precision Shaped Grain technology and high-quality aluminium oxide for a longer service life.

Use the 3M™ Cubitron™ ll Sanding Belt 723D for better results and a longer lifespan. Our sanding belt combines 3M™ Precision Shaped Grain with premium quality aluminium oxide, offering greater durability and cutting efficiency than non-ceramic abrasives. The backing is made of flexible cotton that can easily follow contours and fold around workpieces, preventing you from grinding away too much material. As a result, these cotton sanding belts are ideally suited for removing imperfections and surface defects, even on precision contours and complex components such as medical instruments. Thanks to its flexibility, the belt is also ideal when using a soft contact wheel or when there is a little slack in the belt. De Science Behind 3M Precision Shaped Grain Technology The application of Precision Shaped Grain is a major advance in abrasive technology. PSG is a ceramic mineral especially designed by means of a proprietary process that increases the hardness and strength of the grain. The scientists at 3M have gone a step further and precision engineered the mineral into triangular grains that continuously break down into super-sharp points and edges with wear. This allows them to cut through the material to be machined like a knife through butter, preventing grooves or furrows like with conventional abrasives. PSG results in a super-fast cutting action and limits the development of heat in the material to be processed, so that less heat-related stress cracks and discolouration occur. Because our products with PSG stay cooler and sharper, they also last longer than conventional abrasives. For better performance, the 723D sanding belt contains a mixture of 3M Precision Shaped Grain technology and high-quality aluminium oxide for a longer service life. This not only guarantees a more consistent performance, but also a longer lifespan: up to twice as long as comparable aluminium oxide sanding belts. A longer lifespan means less costs per machined part, less time lost due to sanding belt changes, and therefore more productivity. Clogging occurs when the disc’s surface and abrasive grains become clogged with wood or paint residue, causing the abrasive belt to malfunction. Thanks to the open distribution, there is space between the abrasive grains so that dust and other sanding residues can be removed better and the abrasive grains do not get clogged. In addition, the open structure provides a more aggressive cutting action than a comparable closed structure with the same grain size. The abrasive is firmly resin bonded to the backing for extra durability at high temperatures and pressures. 3M has been a top supplier of abrasives to the metalworking industry for over a hundred years. 3M offers a full range of professional coated and bonded abrasives for a variety of grinding and finishing operations. These cloth sanding belts have been specially designed by 3M engineers with the flexibility required to complete complex parts, while also paying attention to durable performance and a fast cutting action. These products are an excellent choice if you require a finishing sanding belt that also meets the high demands of production environments.
