Extra sturdy. Extremely fast.
The 3M™ Cubitron™ II Flap Disc 969F consists of abrasive material that is built up from several layers. Our flap discs are unique in their design. The blades are made of tough polyester and contain abrasive material that guarantees a fast cutting action. These discs are equipped with a grinding aid and the semi-hard Y-weight back ensures extra strong blades.
For grinding and finishing metals, use the 3M™ Cubitron™ II Flap Disc 969F. Our discs are equipped with the 3M Precision Shaped Grain mineral on the strong polyester blades; the discs are specially designed for intensive sanding with a smooth and clean finish. When a blade wears out, a new layer of abrasive mineral is released each time; this ensures a fast and consistent cutting action. The semi-flexible Y-weight backing provides excellent abrasion and durability. It also allows you to perform tasks that require high pressure, such as removing welds and chamfering edges. The Grinding Aid ensures that the temperature of the disc and the surface remains cool and that metal surfaces do not discolour. These features make the 969F well suited for projects where durability and flexibility of the sanding disc are equally important. Design of the Flap Disc The coated flap discs are the ideal choice for medium-intensity sanding, blending, chamfering, mill scale removal and finishing on a variety of metals. The abrasive blades provide a long-lasting supply of new abrasive mineral in a design that is perfectly resistant to intensive tasks. Although the flap disc is actually designed for use with an angle grinder, you can also use the disc creatively for other tasks. The benefits of Cubitron™ II The 3M Cubitron II abrasive products have raised the bar for professional abrasives. Our 3M engineers took the 3M Ceramic Abrasive Grain material as their starting point and then applied a variety of technologies to electrostatically orient each triangular structure and place them as sharp triangles on the back of the disc. In this way the cutting action of the discs is maximised. The sharp points work as individual metal grinding tools. If the points break off, new abrasive grains are formed.
